CPR & Defibrillator Training and Classes in North East Ireland

CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation): Provides rescue breaths and chest compressions to someone who has collapsed and is unresponsive. CPR helps keep oxygen-rich blood supplied to the brain and other body organs until medical help arrives.

An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a machine that delivers an electric shock to the victim’s heart to help restore a normal heart rhythm. Members of the public can be trained to use AEDs.

CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is simple, easily learned and used when someone’s breathing and heart stop.

Approx 6,000 people a year die, in Ireland, from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

70% of cardiac arrests occur outside of hospital and usually in the presence of a family member or friend. See link for Irish Heart Foundation, below, for more information.

Of the 6,000 deaths referred to above 100 or more people will be under the age of 35 years.

SCA can occur in active, apparently healthy people.
Both athletes and non athletes are at risk.
See link for Sudden Cardiac Death (in the young) Support Group, below, for more information.

With the knowledge and skills you learn on a CPR Course you can save a life.

You will learn:
• the skills of CPR for victims of all ages.
• how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
• how to relieve choking (foreign-body airway obstruction).

The skills you learn will enable you to recognise emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and how to respond to them.
